Stacy Nitcher

Stacy Marie Nitcher, age 50, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Dennis Wayne Winterberg and Nedra Jane (Kramer) Sokoloski on March 10, 1970, in Waterloo, Iowa.  Stacy attended high school in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was a proud member of the varsity cheerleading squad for the Benson Bunnies.  In her senior year, Stacy moved to Aplington and graduated with the class of 1988.   Following her graduation, Stacy attended LaJames College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. 

On August 20, 1988, Stacy married David Hippen.  To this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Mackenzie.  The couple later divorced.  Stacy married Buck Nitcher on July 21, 2007.  This marriage brought two more children into her life that she always treated as her own . . . often being referred to as the “other mother”.

Stacy worked at Heartland Windows from 1998 until her retirement in 2019, due to health reasons.  Stacy enjoyed decorating and going to garage sales and thrift stores.  She had a knack for making “old” things “new”.  She enjoyed spending time at their place in Lake City, Minnesota and vacationing with her childhood best friend in Punta Cana.  Stacy most of all loved being a grandma to her grandchildren. 

On July 22, 2020, Stacy died at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Stacy is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Winterberg, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Marlyn and Lois Kramer; paternal grandparents, Fred and Helen Winterberg, an aunt, Joyce Barron and two uncles, Keith Winterbergand Kent Winterberg.

Stacy is survived by her husband of 13 years, Buck of Parkersburg; her children: daughter, Maggie (Justin) Mehmen and their children, Kael, Carter and Lyza of Parkersburg; son, Jesse (Mandi) Nitcher and their child, Emryn of Parkersburg; daughter, Mackenzie Hippen of Aplington; siblings, brother, Mitch (Paula) Winterberg and child, Josie of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; sister, Nikki Winterberg and children, Madison and Sabrina of Parkersburg; brother, Robby (Jani) Sokoloski and their children, Taylor, Payton, Wyatt and Trey of Parkersburg; brother, Dennis II (Jamie) Winterberg and their children, Jessyka, Dennis III, Johannna and Jemma of Omaha; mother, Nedra Sokoloski of Parkersburg; mother & father-in-law, Raymond & Lucille Nitcher of Parkersburg; brother-in-law, Steve (Becky) Nitcher of Denver, Iowa; sister-in-law, Cheryl (John) Flessner of Wellsburg, Iowa, Sammi, her beloved 4 legged fur baby, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2020, at First Reformed Church in Aplington, with Pastor Brett Vander Burg officiating.  Organist was Cami Haugstad and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “Amazing Grace”.  Special music, “Wind Beneath My Wings” sung by Bette Midler and “Purple Rain” sung by Prince was played.  Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, with Kael Schonenman, Travis Pond, Jesse Nitcher, Justin Mehmen, Robby Sololoski, Darren Ayers, Jonny Miller and Kyle Muller serving as Casketbearers.  Honorary Casketbearers were Carter Mehmen, Lyza Mehmen and Emryn NitcherBrandon & Crystal Huisman served on the Flower Committee

Visitation was held 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. on Sunday at First Reformed Church in Aplington, and one hour before services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com
