Herluf Ulrich Prostine, 86

Herluf Ulrich Prostine, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at MercyOne-Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

 

Herk was born on December 5, 1937, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Laurence and Anna (Ulrich) Prostine. He graduated from New Harford High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Loris Meyer on September 19, 1959, at the New Hartford United Methodist Church.

 

Together Herk and Loris raised their family and farmed for many years in the New Hartford area. He enjoyed playing cards and had fun playing with their card club for over 50 years. Herk had fond memories of the class of 1955 Breakfast Club that met monthly. He loved attending his kids, grandkids and great grandkids activities.

 

Herk is survived by his wife, Loris of Cedar Falls; two daughters-in-law, Sam (Rich) Awve of Kewaskum, Wisconsin and Gayle Prostine of Grundy Center; two grandchildren, Derek (Becky) Prostine of Shell Rock and Kristi (Brent) Mork of Hartland, Wisconsin; and five great grandchildren, Ainsley, Emery, and Jantzen Prostine and Maggie and Teagan Mork.

 

Herk was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Todd, his parents, and his mother and father-in-law, Ora and Oscar Meyer.

 

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the New Hartford Community Church in New Hartford and continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the New Hartford Community Church with Pastor Ben Epley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.
