Brice Kevin Heldt, 61

Brice Kevin Heldt, age 61, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Roger Lee and Bonita Joan (Pierson) Heldt, on July 15, 1964, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  In 1978, he graduated two years early from high school in Violet Hill, Arkansas.  He went on to get his associate’s degree in history at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa.  

On September 23, 1986, Brice was united in marriage with Dawn Rene Lange in Elkton, Maryland. In 1992, they moved to the Butler County Iowa area and in 2008, they moved to Parkersburg. The couple were blessed with two children, Erin and Patrick.  In 2010, Dawn passed away from cancer.

In 2015, Brice was reunited with Carol Knechel and they have been together since.  Brice worked in construction at Horgan Brothers and SMS, as well as doing handyman jobs.  Due to a disability, Brice retired in 2022.  

Brice was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Waterloo Black Hawks.  He enjoyed target shooting and working on cars.  Brice was a loving partner, was fiercely loyal and will be dearly missed.

 Brice died Friday, October 24, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Brice was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Heldt; his mother, Bonita Heldt; an infant sibling, Dawn Heldt; and his best friend, Shawn Matson.

Brice is survived by his wife, Carol Knechel of Parkersburg; two children, Erin (Dave Miltenberger) Heldt of Cedar Falls and Patrick (Ash) Heldt of Clarksville, Iowa; a step-daughter, Jennifer Knechel of Old Town, Maryland; a step granddaughter, Raelyn Knechel; his father, Roger Heldt of Aplington, Iowa; five siblings, Brian (Debbie) Heldt of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, De Frey of Parkersburg, Brock Heldt of Lakeville, Minnesota, Brent (Pam) Heldt of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Dor Heldt of Valley Village, California; one half-sibling, Michael Behm of Hutchinson, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Legend Trail in Parkersburg.
