D-NH football fights off A-P in 2nd half

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford football got more consistent in finishing offensive drives, bringing delayed gratification to a steady defensive performance in a 31-0 shutout of rival Aplington-Parkersburg on Friday.

D-NH improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Class 1A District 3, setting up next week’s road clash with undefeated Denver - the winner will be crowned district champion.

A-P fell to 3-3 overall, and 1-2 in the district.

Two state track and field medals for D-NH’s Moore

DES MOINES – Dike-New Hartford senior Nathan Moore claimed two state medals at the 2021 co-ed state track meet at Drake Stadium last weekend.

Moore, the only senior on the Wolverines’ roster, was seventh in the 2A boys long jump with a best leap of 20 feet, 9.75 inches. He also contributed the anchor leg of the sixth-place sprint medley team, joining Devon Kollasch, Jerek Hall and Jace Hall for a final time of 1:36.02.
