Absentee ballot by mail requests due soon

Those wanting to receive an absentee ballot by mail for next month’s general election must submit their requests to the Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m. on Oct. 24.

An official form is available at butlercounty.iowa.gov. Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8 to be counted. Voters may also vote an absentee ballot in person through 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7.

Absentee ballots received by mail cannot be turned into the polling places on Election Day for counting - if returning an absentee ballot on Election Day, it must be turned in to the Auditor’s Office before polls close on Election Day.

Polls will be open on Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. - polls for area precincts include Aplington Community Center, 927 Parriott Street; the Veterans Memorial Building in Parkersburg, 102 Colfax Street; and the New Hartford Community Center, 303 Broadway Street.

All voters will be asked to show ID before voting at the polls or voting absentee in person, including voters registered in the correct precinct, voters who move within the county to a new precinct, and unregistered voters. Visit voterreadyiowa.org/resourcesfor more information regarding valid voter ID and proof of residency.
