All-NICL Central Boys Basketball Team: A-P's Mackie named Player of the Year

Aplington-Parkersburg senior Jayden Mackie earned the Player of the Year award in the 2021-22 All-NICL Central Boys Basketball Teams released earlier this week.

Mackie, an Upper Iowa recruit, averaged 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in eight NICL Central games this season.

He is one of four unanimous first-team selections, along with A-P junior Garrett Hempen and Denver seniors Caylor Hoffer and Mitchell DeVries.

Other Eclipse-area first teamers were A-P sophomore Gavin Thomas, A-P senior Christian Haugstad and Dike-New Hartford senior Brewer Eiklenborg.

Second-team picks from the Eclipse area include D-NH senior Jacob Stockdale and A-P senior Kale Riherd.

Area honorable mention went to A-P sophomore Cooper Hoff and D-NH junior Braxten Johnson.
