All-state baseball: D-NH's Varney on Class 2A second team

Dike-New Hartford junior Gus Varney was named to the second team of the Class 2A all-state team released by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association over the weekend.

​Varney hit .510 with 21 extra-base hits including 11 doubles and six home runs, with 47 runs batted in and 44 runs. On the mound, he allowed 16 earned runs in 33 and two-third innings, with 36 strikeouts and 18 walks.
