All-state football: A-P's Wiggley on 2nd-team

Aplington-Parkersburg senior Martez Wiggley earned second-team honors on the IPSWA/IFCA Class 1A all-state team released last Tuesday.

Wiggley led Class 1A with 12 quarterback sacks and had 17.5 total tackles for loss and 31 total tackles, with 22 made solo.

He added 13 catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons offense.

A-P ended the season 8-2 overall, falling to Western Christian in the second round.

Dike-New Hartford football has three representatives on the 1A teams.

Seniors Wil Textor and Nick Reinicke earned first-team spots, while senior Braxten Johnson earned a spot on the second team.

Textor made 8.5 tackles for loss with 37.5 total tackles, including three quarterback sacks. Reinicke was far and away the team leader in tackles with 106 total tackles, 89 solo, including 13 for a loss with two quarterback sacks. Reinicke’s tackle total was the third highest in Class 1A this season.

Johnson led the team with four interceptions and added 38 total tackles, two for a loss. On the offensive side he was D-NH’s most prolific receiver, with 29 catches for 580 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Wolverines ended their season at 7-3, bowing out in the second round to MFL Mar Mac.
