All-state girls basketball: A-P's Waller honored on IGCA team

Aplington-Parkersburg senior Ellen Waller earned third-team all-state distinction from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association in teams released on Tuesday, March 7.

Waller was on the Class 2A all-state team from the IGCA, as was a trio of players from the state champion Dike-New Hartford team - Payton Petersen and Jadyn Petersen on the first team, Ellary Knock on the second team. That trio also received the same honors on the teams released by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.

Waller averaged 14.5 points, 2.1 steals, 2.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Falcons. Aplington-Parkersburg ended its season at 20-5 overall, bowing out to Dike-New Hartford in the 2A state quarterfinals.

Payton averaged 16.5 points and 10.6 rebounds this season and was named Class 2A all-tournament team captain for the state champion Wolverines. Jadyn, also an all-tournament team member, averaged 13.2 points and 9.6 rebounds this season, adding 3.4 assists and 3.4 steals per contest.
 
Knock, a Jewell women’s basketball commit, averaged 11.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season.
