Bazetta Kew

Bazetta Jane (Reints) Kew, 80, of Sheffield, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, at the Sheffield Care Center. She was born on May 13, 1940, in a house near Ackley, to John and Susie (Nevenhoven) Reints.
Bazetta grew up and attended school in Ackley. She loved telling people about her being from Ackley and how her dad was the chief of police in Ackley from the 1950’s to early 60’s, before he passed away. Bazetta would always attend Ackley Sauerkraut Days, parades in Ackley, as well as parades in surrounding towns.
Bazetta met John Kew at the skating rink in Iowa Falls. They were married on December 16, 1960, in Ackley and found their home on a farm near Chapin. She worked as a telephone operator before and after her and John were married and until their children were born. This union brought two boys John Jr. and Craig.
Bazetta enjoyed gardening and garden decorations. She had over 150 plants in her greenhouse room. Bazetta also enjoyed crocheting blankets, working on puzzles and word find books, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Bazetta is survived by her son John Jr. (Joni) Kew of Hampton, son Craig Kew of Sheffield, grandchildren Brandon (Amanda) Kew of Omaha, Nebraska, Chris Kew of Chicago, Illinois, John Paul Kew III (fiancé Haley Mallo) of Hampton, Jacob (Cindy) Kew of Dysart, Ashley (Tanner) Davis of Maxwell and Josh Kew (girlfriend Hannah) of Hampton, great-granddaughters Olive and Oaklynn Davis and Ivy Kew, sister Jo (Al) LaMar of Iowa Falls, brother-in-law Melvin Kew of Hampton, sister-in-law Wanda Miller of Hampton, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Susie Reints, husband John Kew in March of 2020, brother Roger Reints, brothers-in-law Frank Kew, Marlo Kew, Ward Miller, Bob Drew and Bob Santee, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Kew, Elaine Kew and Viola Reints.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. A private family burial took place in the Hampton Cemetery. The Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton assisted Bazetta’s family.
