Butler County Fair back at full blast
After last year's trials with operating the Butler County Fair around the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair returns this year with the theme "Good Run of Bad Luck," and offers a full spectrum of fun and festivity.
Running from June 23 to 27, the fair will feature country music star Clint Black as the highlight attraction in the grandstand at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 25. McKenzie Jalynn Band will be the opening act.
In addition to the traditional lineup of 4-H/FFA shows, amusements, rides and activities, each day the fair will feature several grandstand events.
Tuesday night marks the fair’s official opening with the fair parade and the crowning of the 2021 Butler County Fair Queen.
Fans of twisted metal will enjoy the NAPA Night of Destruction demolition derby Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Thursday night, C&C Bucking Bulls and Barrels will appear at the grandstand at 7 p.m., complete with bull riders, barrel racing and rodeo clowns.
Saturday’s events include Kids Day activities at the Iowa State Bank pavilion area from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Iowa Harness Racing at the grandstand at 1 p.m. and the various “scrambles” events - including the parade of 2020 scramble calves, greased pig & calf scrambles, and more - at 6 p.m.
On the fair’s final day, fair-goers can experience Barnyard Battles at 1 p.m. and Figure 8 auto races at 6 p.m.
Tickets to this year’s fair may be purchased at etix.com or at the fairgrounds. A special Super Saver Ticket, granting access to all seven grandstand events, will also be available for purchase.
