Butler County vets on Honor Flight

Butler County veterans that were on a recent honor flight out of Waterloo include: Tom Ambrose, John Brocka, Thomas Dix, Robert Greenlee, Duane Harms, John Heckman, Duane Johnson, John Kramer, William Wilson.

The veterans visited several historical sites in the nation's capital, including the Marine Corps Iwo Jima monument, Arlington National Cemetery, Washington Monument, Korean and World War II Memorial, among other stops.

On the flight home, the veterans were presented with a "Mail Call," including letters written from third graders, fifth graders, families and friends. And once they landed back in Waterloo, they were greeted with a group of well-wishers waving flags, shaking hands and playing music.
