University of Northern Iowa student-athlete C.J. May, a senior on the Panthers’ cross country and track and field teams, received a Dr. Charlotte West Scholar-Athelte Award as part of UNI's Student Leadership Awards. A virtual ceremony was held on April 14.
May was lauded as a co-founder of UNI’s Cyber Security Organization and for his volunteer work with Boys & Girls Club and for several events, including MLK Day of Service, Junior Panther Night and the Panther Reading Program.
May was also one of 14 Panthers on the Missouri Valley Conference's Scholar-Athlete Team. The Panthers men's cross country team finished third, its highest finish since 2003, in this year's MVC cross country meet. May was the second-fastest Panther on that day, running 25:12 for sixth-place overall.
