MARSHALLTOWN – The Dike-New Hartford girls golf team finished seventh in Class 2A at the state tournament at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown, held as a 36-hole tournament on June 1 and 2 last week.

The Wolverines scored a 392 on Day 1 and followed with a 399 on Day 2 for a total score of 791.

Jillian Beuter was the top individual finisher for D-NH, tying for 19th place with a two-day total of 179 (88-91), coming in at 37-over for the tournament.

Van Meter’s Kylie Carey was the individual state champion with 155 strokes.

On Day 1, Maryn Bixby shot a 96, Anna Syharath turned in a 104 and Taya Curtis had a 108 to add to Beuter’s 91 as the scores that counted. Whitney Wauters added a 113 and Samantha Anema shot a 129.

The second day saw Syharath slice 15 strokes off for an 89, while Bixby scored a 105 and Wauters jumped into the top four with a 115. Curtis and Anema contributed scores of 115 and 135 not included in the scoring on Day 2.

Van Meter was the team champion with a 691, 10 strokes better than Roland-Story.

Dike-New Hartford has the potential to return all six golfers next year, with Beuter, Syharath and Wauters set to move into their senior years next spring.
