D-NH football explodes past South Hardin

DIKE – Benton Bixby threw for three touchdowns and Jerek Hall added two rushing touchdowns in a 33-8 victory for Dike-New Hartford football over South Hardin for the Wolverines’ homecoming game at D-NH High School on Friday.

The Wolverines improved to 3-1 in the district opener with the Tigers (1-3), and take on East Marshall in Le Grand on Friday.

Hall finished with 23 carries for 166 yards. Bixby completed nine of 16 passes for 139 yards, a interception and three touchdown passes, one each for Gus Varney, Braxten Johnson and Micah Walston.

The teams were scoreless after one quarter, but D-NH scored 26 points in the second quarter for a 26-0 halftime lead.

Two of D-NH’s second quarter scores were on a 65-yard pass play from Bixby to Varney and a 70-yard run for Hall.

Defensively, Nick Reinicke made 12 solo tackles and 15 total tackles. Braxten Johnson added seven total tackles and Wil Textor had four total stops, and joins Johnny Wenger in having one tackle for loss for the Wolverines on Friday.
