D-NH track and field sweeps track titles at East Marshall

LE GRAND – Dike-New Hartford track and field left East Marshall High School with team titles in the girls and boys competition at a reconfigured early bird co-ed meet on Friday.

The D-NH girls ran away with the gold in a 7-team field, scoring 160 points. BCLUW was second with 116 points and the hosts scored 85 points in third. The boys were also decisive winners in an eight-team field, scoring 145 points to finish ahead of South Tama (102) and BCLUW (97).

The girls won eight golds on Friday, including three out of the four field events with Tayler Wessely sweeping the discus (96-1) and shot put (34-4) and Payton Petersen clearing the bar at 4-10 to win the high jump.

In the running events, Petersen added a win in the 200 and Macie Graves won the 100-meter dash. The Wolverines also won the 4x100, 4x400 and sprint medley relay events.

The D-NH boys dominated the relays, winning five - 4x100, 4x2, 4x4, 4x8 and shuttle hurdle - and scoring in all seven of them. 

D-NH also had a 1-2 finish in the shot put, with Cale Jensen (50-8) finishing ahead of Nick Reinicke (43-7.25).
