DIKE – Top-ranked Dike-New Hartford swept Aplington-Parkersburg 3-0 at D-NH High School on Tuesday.

The Wolverines won 25-13, 25-3, 25-8.

The Falcons played short-handed without regular setter Halle Buseman, who missed Tuesday’s game in concussion protocol following an injury in the previous Saturday’s Gladbrook-Reinbeck tournament.

Sophomore Bella Buseman stepped in Halle’s place for her first varsity time as setter.

“She did great,” A-P head coach Candace Kleespies said. “We just told the girls to rally around her and we’re just going to get as many touches as we possibly can, and go as hard as we possibly can.”

Buseman distributed seven assists. Peyton Klooster led A-P with four kills, Avery Meyer added three.

However, the night was dominated by the two-time defending champs, recognizing seniors Madelyn Norton, Brielle Coulter, Sophia Folkerts and Ellie Knock.

Norton dished out 24 assists to her attackers, led by Payton Petersen with 11 kills and Jadyn Petersen with nine. Knock added six kills and Folkerts had five kills and two blocks. The Wolverines also racked up 14 aces on the night, including five for Abby Jensen and four for Norton.

“We were firing on all cylinders tonight,” Norton said. “Our serving, passing, offense and defense, we just played very well all around tonight.”
