Dike-New Hartford football pounds Panthers

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford football scored 28 first-quarter points in a 67-34 romp over Central Springs in Dike on Friday.

The Wolverines (6-2) secured the second seed in Class 1A District 3 and will host a first-round playoff game against Cascade (5-3) on Friday in Dike.

Micah Walston rushed 12 times for 214 yards and four touchdowns, including a 90-yard touchdown run. Walston also grabbed two touchdown passes on four catches for 78 yards. Benton Bixby completed three of his five total completions on Friday night for touchdowns, amassing 146 yards. Jake Reicks and Braxten Johnson each added touchdown receptions; Cole McCumber and Colin Meester had a rushing score each.

D-NH senior Nick Reinicke made 10 tackles, including two for a loss.

The Cascade Cougars are led by Jack Menster, averaging 8.3 yards per carry with 11 touchdowns this season, and Will Hosch, a quarterback with 1,060 yards passing and 11 touchdowns to 3 interceptions and 60 percent pass completion rating this season.
