Don Henrichs

Don Henrichs, 76, of Allison, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Unity Point Allen Hospital, Waterloo. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at St. James Lutheran Church, Allison. Interment will be at Butler Center Cemetery, rural Allison. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Allison.

Donald Gary Henrichs was born Dec. 27, 1947 in Waverly, a son of Henry and Delma (DeBower) Henrichs. He was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison where he was a lifelong member. He graduated from Allison-Bristow School and attended Waldorf College before entering the U.S. Army and serving in Vietnam.
Don returned to the farm and later met and married Nancy Wallbaum on Jan. 28, 1978, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Parkersburg. He attended there for several years.

Don was a private man but continued to serve his community as commander of the local AmVets, where he also did odd jobs including installing the elevator and collecting cans, serving at Memorial Day celebrations and helping with the All-Wars Memorial. He kept busy by restoring old items, including military equipment. He also served on the Butler Center Cemetery board.

His family includes daughter: Kim (Nolan) Junker, New Hartford and their children: Wyatt, Briley, Bailey and Warren; son: Kyle (Melissa) Henrichs, Parkersburg and their children: Colton, Abby, Jack and Oliver; Mark Henrichs, Cedar Falls; his faithful dog: Duke; brother: Harley (Kathy) Henrichs, Shell Rock: niece and nephew Denise Henrichs; Steve (Julie) Henrichs and their daughters Erin, Elizabeth and Erika.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his parents and his brother Roger Dean Henrichs.
