Evelyn Ramussen

Evelyn Thelma Rasmussen , age 78, of Parkersburg, Iowa was born the daughter of Tole Evert and Gertrude (Siebrands) Beitelmann, on November 18, 1943, at her parent’s farm north of Parkersburg.  She graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1961.

On November 28, 1961, Evelyn was united in marriage with Duane Rasmussen at Salem Lutheran Church south of Parkersburg.  The couple made their home north of Parkersburg on Evelyn’s family farm where they raised four children together.  She kept busy with day to day farm life activities, the couple later divorced.

Evelyn was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg.  She enjoyed selling at flea markets, raising dogs and rural life. She often said her heart was always on the farm.  She would often reminisce about growing up in the country and especially being outdoors with her dad.  She loved spending time with her family.   In 2000, she moved to Aplington and sold insurance for a number of years.

Evelyn passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Parker Place in Parkersburg, Iowa, from dementia.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bradley Rasmussen; one son-in-law, Dennis Frieling; two step-grandchildren; and former husband Duane Rasmussen.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Tracy (Kathy) Rasmussen of Evansdale, Iowa and Darcy (Sandra) Rasmussen of Montour, Iowa; one daughter, Kimberly (Ted) Junker of New Hartford, Iowa; four grandchildren;  two step grandchildren; three step great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Hermine (Dan) Schwickerath of Aplington, Iowa, and Marian DeBoer (special friend Duane Hosch) of Parkersburg, Iowa. 

Graveside Services were held 10:00 a.m, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa. Pastor Nate Huisman officiated the service. Pastor then read Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 and sang, “Since Jesus Came Into My Heart”. “May The Good Lord Bless You & Keep You”, recorded by Tammy Wynnette was provided as special music.
