Frederick Junker

Frederick “Fred” Anthony Junker, age 83, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Fred and Anna (Maifeld) Junker on February 24, 1937, rural Aplington, Iowa. He received his education from Albion Township #6 country school near his home and graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1954.
April 22, 1955, Frederick was united in marriage with Norma Jean Behrends at the Reformed Church of Stout in Stout, Iowa. The couple made their home south of Grundy Center, near Lincoln, Iowa and later also lived north of Stout, in Sinclair, and moved to Parkersburg in 1975. Through the years Frederick worked at Rath Packing for 29 years, New Hartford Elevator, drove grain and gravel trucks for Eildert’s Trucking and also for his son Ted. Fred and Norma owned and operated Parkersburg Laundry for 15 years.
Frederick was an active member of Reformed Church of Stout where he served as an elder and deacon. The couple enjoyed numerous mission trips to some of the southern states such as, Oklahoma and Texas. Frederick very much enjoyed going with Norma to Blue Grass festivals, helping her set up for her catering jobs especially socializing and visiting with everyone there, and playing cards with a local card club. Some of his favorites were spending time with his family especially with the grandchildren and great grandchildren and chocolate stars.
Frederick passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at MercyOne Cedar Falls from natural causes. He was preceded in death by wife Norma Jean Junker in August 2009; a granddaughter, Samantha Junker; his parents; three sisters, one in infancy, and Rosie Harberts and Marilyn Legler; and three brothers, Alvin, Alfred and Jerry Junker.
Fred is survived by three sons, Thomas (Dian) Junker of Dike, Tim (Denise) Junker of Allison, and Ted (Kim) Junker of New Hartford; one daughter, Rita (Randy) Charlton of Ankeny; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; four brothers, Floyd (Judy) Junker of Waverly, Victor (Cathie) Junker of New Hartford, Ralph Junker of Sitka, AK, and Curtis (Deb) Junker of Mason City; three sisters, Imogene Spree of Parkersburg, Anna (Richard) Cady of Inver Grove, MN, and Milanya (Jay) Hall of Cedar Falls; one brother-in-law, Herbert Legler of Edina, MN; one sister-in-law, Janet Junker of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with Pastor Dawson Ackerman officiating. Serving as Casketbearers were RJ Charlton, Nolan Junker, Terry Junker, Jude Charlton, Lucas Junker and Scott Junker.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com
