Gary Jon Bergman, 67
Gary Jon Bergman, age 67, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Clarence “Lefty” Harold and Shirley Darlene (Etjen) Bergman on November 30, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa. Gary graduated from Aplington High School in 1975, then attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University.
Gary was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church. He was employed at Two Rivers Trucking, then worked and retired from John Deere Tractor Works. Gary enjoyed anything outdoors including grilling out, shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and attending rodeos. He was a craftsman, organizer, and diligent worker. Gary loved cooking, ice cream, hanging out with friends, selflessly helping others, and attending sports events with family. He was a dog lover, storyteller, and a thoughtful listener. Gary loved watching Iowa sports, the Chicago Bears, reading, and relaxing at home in his comfy chair. Gary was a loving, caring, genuine, faithful friend and father.
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Gary died in a motorcycle accident in rural Ackley, Iowa. Gary is preceded in death by a son, Zachary Jon Bergman; his parents, Clarence and Shirley Bergman; and a brother, Timothy Bergman.
Gary is survived by two sons, David and Tyler; two daughters, Brooke and Amy; and a sister, Nancy (Randy) Wischmeier.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Redman Funeral & Cremation Services in Parkersburg.
