Lois Schipper

Lois Marilyn Schipper, age 85, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Henry and Cornelia (Miller) Jungling, Sr. on November 13, 1935, at the DeBoer Sisters Maternity Home in Aplington. She received her education in Aplington and graduated from the Aplington High School in 1954.
On November 5, 1954, Lois was united in marriage with George C. Schipper at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington. After their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm north of Aplington. Lois was a loving wife and mother to Sheri, Jolyn, Ranae and Chad. Through the years she had worked at the Aplington Sale barn, Family Café in Parkersburg, and Maple Manor Nursing Home for 20 years, until she was 80 years old. They moved to Parkersburg for a few years prior to moving into the nursing home.
Lois was an active and faithful member of Bethel Reformed Church where she had served on the Ladies Guild, and taught Sunday school and catechism. Lois and George had delivered Sunday service bulletins and taped recordings to shut in members of the congregation. When the children were young, she was a 4-H leader for many years.
Lois loved to tend to her flowers especially enjoying her tulips. She enjoyed baking and was a wonderful seamstress making quilts for all her grandchildren, made bears and costumes as well. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and enjoyed card clubs. Her pride and joy were her family and especially loved attending all her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Lois passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the Maple Manor Village in Aplington of natural causes. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Franken, a grandson, Travis Franken, husband of 65 years, George C. Schipper on 02/28/2020; her parents, and an infant brother, James Jungling.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Jolyn (Gaylen) Timmer of Parkersburg and Ranae (Bob) Diekman of Bird Island, MN; one son, Chad (Nichole) Schipper of Aplington; 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Cristina) Siems, Ryan Siems, Matt (Amber) Timmer, Nicole (Dave) Wasierski, Samantha (Chris Wipf) Loebs, Drew Diekman, Bailie Schipper, Jacob Schipper, Jason (Julie) Franken and Amy (Steve) Simon; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Becky) Jungling, Jr. of Aplington, and Paul (Barb) Jungling of Aplington; one sister, Eunice (Robert) Schipper of Kesley.
A family funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington, with Pastor Scott Summers officiating.
Randy Aalderks was the pianist for the service and he also sang “Where The Roses Never Fade”. The congregation sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder”. Burial was held at Bethel Reformed Cemetery in rural Aplington with Ryan Siems, Matt Timmer, Drew Diekman, Jacob Schipper, Jason Franken and Steve Simon serving as Casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers were Christopher Siems, Samantha Loebs, Bailie Schipper, Nicole Wasierski and Amy Simon.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Bethel Reformed Church and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com
