Marjorie Eilderts

Marjorie “Marj” Esther Eilderts, age 86, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Jake and Marie (Ostendorf) Hemmen on April 1, 1934, at home in rural Grundy County, Iowa.  She received her education at a rural country school near her home and graduated from the Dike High School in 1952.
On June 11, 1953, Marjorie Hemmen was united in marriage with Harry L. Eilderts at the Reformed Church of Stout, in Stout, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Kesley for a couple of years and then moved to Parkersburg.  Marj was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.  Through the years she helped Harry with Eilderts Trucking Company, where she drove truck and took orders. Later in life at the age of 62 Marj went back to college at the Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo where she received training to be a certified EMT and volunteered for the Parkersburg Ambulance.  She also received training to be a phlebotomist and worked at the Allen Hospital.
Marj was a faithful member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg where she had taught Sunday school, active in Women’s Guild, and assisted with vacation Bible school.  In her earlier years she played the organ at the Reformed Church of Stout.  She was also a member of the Parkersburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing and making clothes. She enjoyed traveling with Harry including a trips to Spain, Hawaii, New York, Washington D.C. and they enjoyed a Caribbean cruise together.  She loved spending time with her family and especially loved her grandbabies.
Marj passed away Monday, November 30, 2020, at Parker Place Memory Care in Parkersburg due to complications of Covid-19.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on May 30, 2014, parents, two brothers, Harm and Herman Hemmen, and a grandson, Ross Heffner.
Marj is survived by three children, Randall (Carla) Eilderts of Atlantic, IA, Lisa (Mark) Heffner of Cedar Falls, and Ronald (Mardell) Eilderts of Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, Joshua (Alexis) Eilderts, Caleb (Heather Prall) Eilderts, Alyse Heffner, Shannon (Ricky) Harrison, and Shalee Eilderts; a great grandson, Grady Harrison and a great granddaughter due in February.
Celebration of Life will be at a later date with inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
