Mavis Neymeyer

Mavis June Neymeyer, age 87, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of John Frederick and Lydia (Kettwig) Etjen on June 9, 1933, in Parkersburg, Iowa.  Mavis graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1951.  
In May 1951, Mavis was united in marriage with Lyle Henry Neymeyer in Parkersburg.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Parkersburg.  In the mid 1950’s, Mavis and Lyle moved to Seattle, Washington.  Mavis worked at Nordstroms and later at Boeing as a coordinator for spare parts for 35 years.  Mavis retired from Boeing.  In 1999, Mavis moved back to Parkersburg.
Mavis enjoyed taking trips to the casino and her coffee.  She especially enjoyed her coffee with her brother.  She was a huge sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs.  Mavis and Lyle enjoyed traveling the country to attend their daughter’s sporting events.
Mavis died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Maple Manor Village in Aplington.  Mavis is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle on July 9, 1996; a son, Troy who died in December 1963, as a child; and one sister, Lois Harken.
Mavis is survived by one daughter, Sheri, (John Hahn) of Parkersburg; three brothers, Charles Etjen of Parkersburg, Craig (Bonnie) Etjen of Parkersburg and James Etjen of Federal Way, Washington; two sisters, Shirley Bergman of Parkersburg and Connie (Scott) Simon of Parkesburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date due to COVID-19
Memorials may be directed to the family.
