McBride awarded Parkersburg Proud honor
Hunter McBride (front row at left) was awarded the Parkersburg Proud honor at last Monday’s Parkersburg City Council meeting for his actions and response in helping another Parkersburg resident in need. On June 20, 2022, McBride was walking his dog, Lola, and found Darlene Nicklaus on the ground in front of her home. Hunter went above and beyond to make sure that Mrs. Nicklaus was comfortable until help arrived. Hunter called his mother Emily Wildeboer, a nurse at MercyOne, to the scene. 911 was called and EMTs arrived to check out Mrs. Nicklaus. Darlene Nicklaus is pictured next to Hunter in the front row. In the back row is Parkersburg Ambulance Chief Leon Schwerdtfeger, Parkersburg Mayor Mike Timmer and Parkersburg Ambulance Assistant Chief Tyler Johnson. (Contributed photo)
