Aplington-Parkersburg senior Gavin Thomas added one final postseason honor to his storied basketball career as a Falcon, recently being selected Second Team All-State selection by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association (IPSWA).
Thomas appeared in 17 games (16 starts) this season, averaging 20.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.4 apg and 1.6 steals a game. The senior guard was named First Team NICL Central. This is Thomas’s second All-State selection of his career, earning Second Team All-State honors from the IPSWA in 2023.
He will suit one final time for A-P in the 2024 Iowa Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Pizza Ranch All-Star Game on Saturday at Dallas Center-Grimes. Thomas is one of 48 seniors across four classes invited to play in these games, becoming the fifth Falcon in the last seven years to represent A-P.
Dike-New Hartford junior Colin Meester has been named a Third Team All-State selection by the IPSWA for the 2023-24 season. Meester started all 24 games for the Wolverines this season, averaging 16.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 4.3 apg and 1.3 steals per game. The Wolverines’ guard was second in assists (104) and third in scoring (386) in the NICL Central.
DNH finished their season 12-12 this season, reaching the District semifinals before falling to rival Aplington-Parkersburg 69-59 to end their year.
