Michael "Mike" Dean

Michael “Mike” Dean Pies, age 32, of Shell Rock, Iowa, formerly of Aplington and LeMars, Iowa, was born the son of Duane Dean and Melanie Carol (Barnes) Pies on March 11, 1990, in LeMars, Iowa. Mike graduated from LeMars High School. 

Mike lived with his parents until his mother passed away. He then moved to Aplington, Iowa, and lived with his brothers, Matt and Josh and his sister-in-law, Christy. The last three years, Mike was a resident at Shell Rock Care Center in Shell Rock, Iowa. While in LeMars, Mike worked at Life Skills. He delivered newspapers, mowed lawn in his wheelchair and loved to tinker.

Mike enjoyed cars and trucks and attending car shows. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and hanging out with Matt and Josh and his father in the garage.

Mike died Friday, March 18, 2022, at Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Melanie Pies and his grandparents.

Mike is survived by his father, Duane (Michelle) Pies of Aplington; two brothers, Matt (Christy) Pies of Aplington and Josh (finacée, Jess McCann) Pies of Waverly; four nieces, Treyanna Pies, Jessica Hollander, MaryAnne Pies and Addy Pies; four nephews, Seth Hassman, Zade Pies, Tate Pies and Owen Pies; and two great nephews, Anthony Hassman Loutch and Carter Pies.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel in Aplington, (319)346-1534.
