Myrna Kluiter

On September 11, 2024, Myrna Kluiter passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior while at home in Parkersburg.

Myrna Mae Christopherson was born August 1, 1937, near Kesley in Butler County Iowa. She was the youngest child of Lawrence and Leona (Brown) Christopherson. She grew up near Kesley and attended country school and then Aplington High School where she graduated in 1954. After graduation she worked at the Aplington State Bank.

She married LaVern Kluiter on July 1, 1960. They lived in Aplington for a year then moved to Parkersburg. Myrna worked at the Parkersburg State Bank until 1982 when a motorcycle accident forced her to retire.

On January 26, 1946, Myrna trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was in happy fellowship at the Hitesville Gospel Hall for nearly 75 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Leona Christopherson; sister, Irene (Chris Kampman); brother, Floyd (Lorraine) Christopherson; sister-in-law, Darlene Christopherson; father and mother-in-law, Sebo and Augusta Kluiter, brother-in-law, Gordon Loeschen; sister-in-law Sylvia Kaminski, and brother-in-law Robert Kluiter.

Myrna is survived by her husband LaVern; son, Keith (Kristie) Kluiter of Irwin, PA; daughter, Kay (Jay) Alman of Longs, SC; granddaughter, Olivia (Nick) Vergara, of Nashville TN; grandson, Nathan (Sharon) Kluiter of Chesapeake, VA; granddaughter, Sierra (Nathan) Walker of Aurora, Ontario, Canada; three great grandchildren, Ava, Adam and Greta Kluiter of Chesapeake, VA; brother, Vinton Christopherson, of Iowa Falls; and sisters-in-law, Carol (Ron) Smith of Parkersburg and Sandi (Don) Routh of Cedar Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hitesville Gospel Hall in rural Aplington, Iowa.  Keith Kluiter, Allan Christopherson and Tom Christopherson officiated the service.  The congregation sang “I Was a Guilty Sinner” (To the tune of “There’s a Friend for Little Children”) and “I’ll Fly Away”.  The burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with Nathan Kluiter, Nathan Walker, Nick Vergara, Rick Held, Jim Johnson and  Shawn Terrill serving as Casketbearers.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Parkersburg Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family or Unity Point Hospice.  Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
