A-P archers compete at NASP championships

Three Aplington-Parkersburg archers competed at last weekend’s National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Avery Freund, Kalob Hoppenworth and Kolbe Meyer were among the top 100 archers invited to the nationwide event, with all three competing in the 3D division. Hoppenworth also qualified for the bullseye division.

Hoppenworth had the best score of the Iowa representatives in bullseye, and finished 11th overall in the elementary division with a 275 score, including 12 tens. He was 17th overall in 3D with a 262 and 11 tens.

Meyer placed 69th among high school boys with a final score of 274 and 10 tens in 3D.

Freund was 106th in the middle school girls division with a 247 score, shooting 4 tens.
