A-P board preps for school year

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg School Board handled several administrative items ahead of the first day of the 22-23 school year as part of regular business at A-P High School on Monday, Aug. 15.

The board approved the second reading of various IASB policy primers and completed the IASB annual review of policies, approved the School Improvement Advisory Committee Mission and Vision Statement for 2022-23 in addition to the 22-23 Emergency Operations Plan.

During public comment at the start of the meeting, Christa McCaulley addressed the board with a request that the board offer more maternity leave than is currently in place.

Superintendent Travis Fleshner updated the board on future and completed professional development plans; financial, facility and transportation updates and marketing for the coming school year.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 19 at the high school.

- Approved resignations for Gabe Nolte, HS assistant football coach; Travis Walker, JH girls basketball coach; Brad O’Connell, MS boys basketball coach;

- Approved contract offers for Levi Lynch, .5 HS assistant football coach; Ryan Albertson, MS Special Ed Associate; Rod Mulder, Bus Route Driver; Brad O’Connell, .5 Freshman Boys Basketball Coach; Adam Wauters; .5 Freshman Boys Basketball Coach;

- Approved volunteers Evan Capper, HS Football; Todd Thomas, HS Football; Sherman Limburg, Cross Country; Amber Cordes, HS Volleyball.
