A-P boys improve to 11-0

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg boys basketball team started the third week of January with an undefeated season still intact, improving to 11-0 last week with one-sided wins over East Marshall and Denver.

A-P beat East Marshall 85-40 in Parkersburg on Jan. 10, and sent Denver packing when the Cyclones came to town on Jan. 13 with a 83-52 win.

Four scored in double digits for A-P against the Mustangs, led by Gavin Thomas’ 14 points. Will Hodges added 13 points, Martez Wiggley scored 12 points and added 10 rebounds and Garrett Hempen put down 11 points. A-P outrebounded East Marshall 43-24 and shot 56 percent from the floor.

Gavin Thomas was electric in Friday’s win against the Cyclones, scoring a team-leading 30 points, which included 21 points in the first quarter. Garrett Hempen added 22 points and Nick Neuroth had 10 points with eight assists. The Falcons made 14 of 28 3-point attempts in the game, including six for Thomas and three from Hempen.
