A-P girls defend the home gym

PARKERSBURG – Aplington-Parkersburg girls basketball improved to 7-0 at home with wins against East Marshall and Denver in the A-P gym in Parkersburg last week.

A-P defeated East Marshall 76-25 last Tuesday, followed by a 50-30 win over Denver on Friday. The Falcons, ranked 14th in Class 2A, improved to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in the NICL Central pod.

Ellen Waller scored 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting to lead the Falcons against East Marshall. Kendall Riherd, Kennedy Lind and Peyton Klooster all chipped in eight points each. Twelve different Falcons scored in the victory, with all 15 checking in.

Three Falcons scored in double figures against the Cyclones, led by Kendall Riherd’s 19 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, six steals and two blocked shots. Ellen Waller chipped in 11 points and Quinnlyn Schultz put up 10 points with six steals. A-P led 31-6 at halftime and was up 43-14 after three quarters.

The Falcons played Waterloo Columbus on Monday at home in the final game of a four-game home stand. A-P heads to Union on Thursday in a rescheduled game from December, and meets Denver again in the Cyclone Center on Friday.
