PARKERSBURG – Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball defeated Hudson in straight sets to advance in postseason play at A-P High School on Wednesday.

The Falcons won 25-17, 25-17, 25-19. A-P (23-11) advances to a Class 2A Region 5 semifinal at Denver against the sixth-ranked Cyclones at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25. Denver swept Belmond-Klemme on Wednesday.

Kasidy Mohwinkle powered A-P's attack with 16 kills and contributed 11 digs; Peyton Klooster added nine kills. Libby Janssen finished with 33 assists.

Defensively, A-P landed eight total blocks - Kinsey Mohwinkle had one solo block and added seven block assists, Olyvia Bellows had four assisted blocks. Ellen Waller and Ellie Etjen had 17 and 10 digs, respectively.

The win was a de-facto rubber match between the Falcons and Pirates - A-P defeated Hudson in NICL Central play on Sept. 7, but the Pirates upended A-P in three sets at a Don Bosco tournament on Oct. 9.

The winner of Monday's regional semifinal will advance to next Wednesday's regional final at Webster City against either Carroll Kuemper or South Central Calhoun.
