Steven Thompson
Steven Ryan Thompson, age 66, of Eldora, Iowa, was born the son of Arthur and Arlene (McKinney) Thompson Jr. on October 9, 1955, at the Franklin County Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from the Aplington High School and went to further his education by attending Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa.
Steven was united in marriage with Janice Schipper and to this union, Michael and Christopher were born. The couple then later divorced, and Steven moved to Ackley, Iowa. He worked as a machinist at Dayco in Eldora, Iowa for many years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hiking, riding bike, jogging, and occasionally working on vehicles. He especially loved to go fishing and hunting.
Steven passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora, Iowa, of natural causes. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenneth in infancy.
Steven is survived by two sons, Michael Thompson of Grundy Center, Iowa and Christopher Thompson of Marshalltown, Iowa; three grandchildren, Serena Thompson, Emmet Thompson, and Emeric Thompson; and four brothers, Rick (Simone) Thompson of Aplington, Iowa, Howard Thompson of Aplington, Iowa, Todd (Laura) Thompson of Aplington, Iowa, and Alan Thompson of Aplington, Iowa.
Private family services were held Friday, March 25, 2022, at Redman Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel in Aplington. Pastor Elton LaBree officiated the service.
“In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”, recorded by Alan Jackson was played. Burial was held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington with David Thompson, Rick Thompson, Michael Thompson, Todd Thompson, Howard Thompson and Alan Thompson serving as Casketbearers.
