APLINGTON – Professional trumpet player Chiz Rider will perform at a free event at Aplington Baptist Church at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22.

According to his biography on chizrider.com, Rider has played trumpet since he found his father’s high school instrument in a closet at the age of four. Three years later, he dedicated himself and his music to Jesus Christ.

Rider has released five albums through the Myrrh record label and collaborated with other talented instrumentalists to create two “America’s Choice” albums. His most recent release is “Psalm 150”.

His musical style is described as a “jazz/pop sound” influenced by Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson, Louis Armstrong and Jon Faddis, among others.

Chiz Rider Ministries performs over 260 concerts a year nationally and makes several international appearances. He has performed with many popular Christian artists, including DC Talk, Newsboys, Cindy Morgan and Michael W. Smith, and has performed at a Billy Graham Crusade, performed for several Presidents and Congress and in the opening ceremonies for the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Special Olympics.

Free-will “love offerings” will be accepted on Friday to help cover the cost of Rider’s travel.
