BROOKLYN – Dakota Dally and Clay Saak were third-place medalists for Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center wrestling at the Corky Stuart Invitational held at BGM High School on Saturday.

Dally wrestled at heavyweight, and lost his opening-round match to West Marshall's Sam Schaper by a 7-1 decision.

From there, Dally secured three victories by pinfall, with his day coming full circle by pinning Schaper's shoulders to the mat in the third-place match.

Saak pinned Jesup's Aiden Gonzalez to reach the 160-pound semifinals, but bowed out to Des Moines Roosevelt's Cole Norris in a 7-1 decision. In the bronze-medal matchup, Saak finished strong with a 12-1 major decision over Iowa Valley's Colton Hudepohl.

Carson Troyna was the other Falcon wrestler to reach the third-place match. He also made it to the semifinals with a pin against Wesley Thompson of West Marshall in the quarterfinals, lost by fall to BGM's LJ Henkle, and then came up short versus Iowa Valley's Garret Hoyt in a 7-4 decision to settle for fourth.

Carter Liston (126), Justin Knaack (138), Stuart Whitehill (170), and Jesse Brouwer (182) all finished their days with wins as fifth-place finishers for A-P/GC.
