Undefeated Falcon boys roll on

Aplington-Parkersburg boys basketball was dominant in victories at Waterloo Columbus and Jesup last week.

The Falcons smashed the Sailors, 94-27, on Tuesday, and avenged last season’s substate final loss to Jesup with an 81-51 triumph in Jesup on Friday.

Garrett Hempen poured in 24 points against Columbus and Gavin Thomas and Martez Wiggley added 19 and 15 points, respectively. Jack Eddy led the Falcons’ bench production with 11 points on a night where 18 different Falcons entered the game, 13 of them scoring.

A-P led Jesup 38-20 at halftime of Friday’s game. Hempen led the way again with 23 points and added five rebounds and four assists. Gavin Thomas scored 13 points with seven rebounds and Kael Schoneman came off the bench to score 14 points.

The Falcons outrebounded Jesup 43-23.

A-P improved to 4-0 overall. The Falcons stay on the road this week - at Union on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and over to Hudson on Friday, Dec. 16.
