WATERLOO – Waterloo United girls soccer landed a game-winner in the final minutes of a tight matchup with Aplington-Parkersburg at Memorial Stadium on Friday.

A-P trailed 1-0 at halftime after an early goal from Waterloo’s Isabelle Stoffer, but Jenna Lupkes got the Falcons on the board midway through the second half on an assist from Olivia Onken. Eight minutes later, Elma Tricic answered for Waterloo United for the eventual game-winning goal.

The Falcons finished with four shots on goal, while junior goalkeeper Kaylee Johnson made 14 saves against Waterloo’s attack.

When this issue went to press, A-P was scheduled to welcome Dike-New Hartford for a girls soccer matchup in Aplington on Tuesday, followed by another home contest in Aplington against Clear Lake on Friday.
