The Butler County Community Foundation (BCCF) granted $5,260 to the Parkersburg Historical Society for a restoration project at the C.C. Wolf Mansion, also known as the Parkersburg Historical Home.

The Parkersburg Historical Society will use the funds for the restoration of dormer windows and repainting for the historical building that recently celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The grant is one of 27 projects that received funds from BCCF, with a grand total of $103,000.61 granted to projects across the county, including several projects in Aplington, New Hartford and elsewhere in Parkersburg. A full list of the grant awards is available at www.cfneia.org.

“Because of the generous investments entrusted to the Butler County Community Foundation, nonprofit organizations are able to make great improvements to our communities,” said Jennifer Heeren, chair of the BCCF Governing Committee. “We thank our local nonprofit organizations for their work in making Butler County a great place to live.”

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Butler County. Committee members include: Greg Barnett, Mary Derdzinski, Jennifer Heeren (chair), Ursula Hoegsberg, Deb Homer, Jerry Orr, Mindy Pecha, Carly Pollock, Nancy Rieken, Greg Schmitz and Jeff Kolb (Ex-Officio).

BCCF received 55 applications for grant money in the latest award cycle but Heeren said only one-third of the total funds requested were available to distribute.

“This serves as a reminder to citizens that they, too, can support their local community through charitable giving and legacy plans with the Community Foundation,” Heeren said.

Grants are awarded to projects in program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare and health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Butler County to be considered for funding.

The 2022 grant application process opens Nov. 1, 2021 with an application deadline of Dec. 31. Grants are awarded the following March.
