Alexander Jon Scriven
Alexander Jon E. (A.J.) Scriven, 28, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away October 6, 2020 at Vidant Home Health & Hospice House in Greenville, North Carolina from end stage liver disease. He was born October 3, 1992, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, to Jon B. and Rachel Ann (Uhlenhopp) Scriven. His parents later divorced. His mother married William Kern and A.J. became very close to his stepfather. A.J. attended schools in LaCrosse and Onalaska, Wisconsin; West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana; and Rockton, Illinois.
In 2010 A.J. moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin. On September 14, 2018, A.J. was united in marriage with Haleigh Ann Riggall. They made their home in LaCrosse, Wisconsin with their beloved Great Danes and Doberman (Sicilia, Mateo and Gimli). In August of 2020 they moved to North Carolina.
A.J. was smart, funny, stubborn, and charismatic. His sparkly blue eyes, half smile, laugh, and hugs just made you want to be around him. A.J. believed his life was meant to be a fast and fun ride with no regrets. If you were lucky enough to share his time, you have memories you will never forget. We know AJ is already off on his next adventure as he is reunited with his beloved Diletta, probably driving a hotrod golf cart with her pushing the gas, him steering and both of them laughing and in peace.
A.J. is survived by his wife, Haleigh (Jacksonville, NC), his mother Rachel Scalia and her friend Chad Beaty (Machesney Park, Il); his dad Bill Kern (Onalaska,WI); his sisters Jami (Eric) Krumm (Bovey, MN) and Sydney Kern (LaCrosse, WI); his brother Michael D. Scalia (Machesney Park, Il); his aunts and uncles Gretchen (Keith) Stockdale (Aplington, IA), Karl (Lori) Uhlenhopp (Aplington, IA), Mackenzie Uhlenhopp (Aplington, IA), Chad Scriven (Tucson, AZ), and Dawn (David) Sindelar (Marion, IA); his maternal grandmother Becky (Duane) Palcic (Aplington, IA); his maternal grandfather Eldon Uhlenhopp (Aplington, IA); his paternal grandfather Jon Scriven and friend Rosie Buss (Parkersburg, IA); his cousins Keily and Levi Stockdale, and Richard and Ellie Uhlenhopp; and his special “grandma” Verna Wise (Parkersburg, IA). He was preceded in death by his father Jon “Jonny” B. Scriven and paternal grandmother Mary Jess.
A.J. requested that he be cremated and that no services be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held by his family in LaCrosse, WI at a later date. Memorials may be directed to his sister, Sydney Kern.
