Public health continues vaccine rollout while COVID activity sees slight bump

Butler County's vaccine distribution is staying on course as they continue to work through the priority tiers.

The county hosted a booster clinic on Tuesday and has scheduled a prime clinic on Friday to use their 300 dose allotment of Moderna vaccine. With much of the child care providers and emergency responders inoculated, the county is focusing on residents aged 65 and up or under 65 with a health condition.

Though it is anticipated that eligibility will be opened up to all Iowans in the next couple weeks as vaccine supply increases, the county has not been informed what their future dose allotment will look like.

As of Monday, March 22, approximately 7,320 doses of vaccine have been administered to Butler County residents, with 2,748 residents completing their two-dose vaccine series and an additional 55 receiving their one-dose vaccine.

A total of 1,606 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county, increasing the county total in the last week by eight cases.

In Butler County, 6,857 individuals have been tested at some point during the pandemic, with a total of 26,982 tests performed on Butler County residents overall. In the last 14 days, 1.1% of total tests have been positive for the virus. The state no longer tracks the number of individuals testing positive or recovered cases, making it difficult to determine how many active cases there are.

No additional deaths were reported in the county since last week, keeping the county total at 32.
