Service to a larger cause: A-P middle and high school assemblies honor veterans’ sacrifice

“I am proud to be part of the thousands, the millions who have been called to lace up boots and defend our freedoms.”

These were the words of retired First Sergeant Travis Fleshner, keynote speaker at Aplington-Parkersburg High School’s Veteran’s Day assembly last Thursday morning.

A similar assembly was held at the middle school after the conclusion of the high school program.

Both programs emphasized the same message: as Americans, we need to be deeply grateful for the sacrifice offered by American servicemen and women throughout our country’s history.
