New Hartford Child Care Fund established
The Butler County Community Foundation has established the New Hartford Child Care Fund to support fundraising efforts for a new childcare center in New Hartford, according to a press release issued last week.
A community-wide survey showed a great need for childcare in the Dike-New Hartford school district, leading to the formation of the New Hartford Child Care Committee.
Stephanie Boecker, president of the Child Care Committee and New Hartford Economic Development board member, noted that Iowa is a “childcare desert,” lacking the available spots to fulfill childcare needs in the state.
“In New Hartford, a new housing subdivision is being built which will exacerbate this issue even further for our community,” Boecker continued. “So the New Hartford Child Care Committee is working on a solution now.”
The fund is accepting contributions to Phase 1 of the childcare center project, which will include building site selection, a financial study and a complete 3D building rendering by this fall.
“Quality, affordable childcare is an issue that affects everyone in our community,” Boecker said. “We are really hoping New Hartford-area residents, businesses and other partners will help us in the effort.”
Financial gifts toward the project can be made to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, 3117 Greenhill Circle, Cedar Falls, IA, 50613. Checks should be made payable to the New Hartford Child Care Fund. Gifts can also be made on CFNEIA’s secure website at fund.cfneia.org/NewHartfordChildCare. Donors can take advantage of normal federal deductions for charitable gifts.
