Saak takes 8th for A-P/GC boys at state

DES MOINES – Clay Saak’s eighth-place finish in the Class 2A 170-pound bracket was the final highlight of an eventful weekend for Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center boys wrestling at the state tournament in Des Moines.

Saak scored a takedown in overtime against Creston’s Kaden Street to secure his place on the medal stand. He lost to Austin Scranton of Anamosa for the second time in the tournament to go down to the seventh-place match, where Mount Vernon senior Henry Ryan pinned the junior.
