Ruth Mulder

Ruth Mulder of Dike, Iowa, passed away April 21, 2023 at the Creekside Living Center under the additional care of Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Dike United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Ruth was born November 17, 1930, near Kesley, Iowa, to Gerrit and Harmke (Russman) Eilderts. She was united in marriage to John Mulder February 23, 1954, in Aplington, Iowa.

Ruth took pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her children. She helped farm with her husband, John, cleaned houses, cooked at the Dike High School, was janitor at the Dike United Methodist Church, and spent many years working at The Barn Cafe, making many lifelong friends with co-workers.

She loved to garden and grow flowers, as well as travel with family. In her later years, she loved spending time with her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her son Byron (Lori) Mulder; daughter Bonnie (Richard) Loy; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Rich (Crystal) Loy, Bryer, Beckham, Blakley; Becky (Mason) Geraghty, Audrey and William; Jon (Ellen) Mulder, Everett and Rori; Jake (Maddie) Mulder and Josie Mulder; and one sister Marie Menken. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband John; brothers George, Jerry, Steno, and Edward; and sisters Tillie, Harmina, Elta, Bena, and Gertie.
