Wilma Doris Wrich, 94
Wilma Doris Wrich, age 94, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of William and Elma (Dohse) Hamann on February 16, 1929, in Elkhorn, Nebraska. She graduated from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska and furthered her schooling by receiving her Master of Education from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
In her early career, Wilma started teaching in a one room schoolhouse in rural Nebraska. She went on to dedicate over 30 years to her passion for teaching, spending much of that time in Millard public schools. She retired at the age of 62 and enjoyed spending her time reading, tending to her flower beds, and traveling including trips to Europe and Egypt.
Wilma passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington, Iowa. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents William and Elma Hamann; her husband of over 50 years, Walter Wrich; her oldest son Warren Wrich, her grandson Lee Wrich; her granddaughter Laura Wrich, her brother William Hamann; and two half siblings, Kennith Fedde and Gladys Fedde.
Wilma is survived by her sons, Wayne (Gwen) Wrich of Aplington, Iowa; Wayde (Margaret)Wrich of Blue Springs, Missouri; her grandson Keith (Ashley) Wrich, two granddaughters Wendy Wrich and Whiteny (John) Barr; 5 great grandchildren Bayden, Charlotte, Hudson, Ellie, and Hadassah Wrich.
Services will be held at a later date In Omaha, Nebraska.
