Kenneth D. Thorne, 81

Kenneth D. Thorne, 81, Parkersburg, Iowa dies on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

Kenneth was born January 6, 1943, the son of Robert and Lorraine(Wiegmann) Thorne. 

Kenneth loved his woodworking and was always there to lend a helping hand with any projects, If anyone needed a special take Ken was the first one to call. He enjoyed camping with his family. While Camping he would put in his boat and enjoyed pulling waterskiers and many family members were able to try for the first time. 

Kenneth graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1961. Following graduation, he worked at the Parkersburg State Bank. He then served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1966 and went to work at John Deere in Waterloo where he retired in June of 1992.

Kenneth is survived by his sister Delores Adolphs, brother Leon (Becky) Thorne, and sister-in-law Rose Thorne, all of Parkersburg, nieces, and nephews: Scott Thorne, Brett (Sara) Thorne, Jeff Adolphs, Kim (Matt) Butler, Steve (Heather) Adolphs, Dustin Thorne, Hayle (Sean) Foster, Brynn Thorne, He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Butch) Thorne Jr., and brother-in-law Marvin Adolphs.

Kenneth Shared his love with his nieces, nephews, and his very special neighbors.

It was his wish to be cremated at the Cedar Valley Memorial in Cedar Rapids. As per his request, a graveside service will be held at a later date at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
