James “Jim” William Scourick, 87

James “Jim” William Scourick, age 87, of Parkersburg, Iowa, formerly of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of James Edward and June (Fisher) Scourick on June 1, 1936, in Lake Mills, Iowa.  Jim graduated from Aplington High School in 1954.  He was a member of the Army National Guard.  

On October 26, 1958, Jim was united in marriage with Bethel “Beth” June Graham at the Kesley Presbyterian Church in Kesley, Iowa.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Kesley.  Jim worked at Kesley Hardware, then O’s Gold/Asgrow Seed Company in maintenance and as an electrician.  Jim retired at the age of 65.  

Jim was a member of First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.  He enjoyed gardening and fishing.  Jim treasured his fishing trips to Minnesota he took with Beth in their camper.  Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with Beth and his family.  

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Jim died at Parker Place in Parkersburg, of natural causes.  Jim is preceded in death by one son, William Scourick on May 11, 2011; and his parents, James & June Scourick.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beth of Parkersburg; a son, James “Jim” (Debbie) Scourick of Paducah, Kentucky; three grandchildren, J.T. (Jackie) Scourick, Gary (Melissa Skiljan) Scourick and Jackson (Kaylee) Scourick.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg, with Pastor BJ Humphrey officiating.  The pianist was Mary Ann Simon and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “Amazing Grace” and “At The Cross”.  The burial was held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington, with J.T. Scourick, Gary Scourick, Daryl Folken, Matt Klahsen, Aaron Mulder and Denny Huisman serving as Casketbearers.  Bonnie Wessels and Kristy Schipper served as the Flower Committee.

Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Parkersburg Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
