Eileen Valentine, 86

Eileen Valentine, 86, of Wellsburg, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Wellsburg Reformed Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.



Eileen Joyce Valentine was born on March 22, 1938, in Bristow, Iowa, the daughter of John and Tena (Hoodjer) Bruns. Eileen went to elementary school in Kesley and graduated from the Aplington High School, she also attended one year at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. She was united in marriage to Robert Valentine on August 30, 1957, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington. Eileen had worked as a secretary at Raths, Cordes Hardware, and B&B Auto. She also worked as a seamstress at Dodger Gym. She sang in the Women's Chorus and was a member of the Women's Group at Wellsburg Reformed Church where she was a member. She was also on the Library Board.



Eileen is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Colette (Randy) Nederhoff of Albuquerque, NM; a son, Curt (Teresa) Valentine of Gowrie; two sisters-in-law, Alida Freese of Hampton and Linda Valentine of Iowa Falls; two granddaughters, Jocelyn Schlenker of Leesburg, VA and Jensen Nederhoff of Colorado; a grandson, Ross Nederhoff of San Diego, CA; a great-granddaughter, Elliette Schlenker of Virginia; and two great-grandson, Jonas Schlenker of Leesburg, VA and Callahan Schlenker of Virginia.



She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Tena Bruns; parents-in-law, August and Minnie Valentine; a sister, Judy Heeren, brothers-in-law Harm Freese, Jake Valentine and Melvin (Vernice) Valentine.
